Welcome to "The DNA Architects of South Bend & Mishawaka" iGEM Team Wiki!
Our Problem: ====We have heavy metals in our environment that can be harmful to the community, but we do not yet know which bodies of water or areas they are in.====
Primary Objective:
To invent a device using synthetic biology to identify dangerous levels of arsenic in our community, and to help those with limited water resources, make use of clean water.
Secondary Objective:
Use our iGEM arsenic biosensor to test imported and local seafood any levels of mercury dangerous to our health.
Further Considerations
Ideally, our engineered bacteria would be able to indicate the mercury levels based on light and odor intensity.
