Bisphenol A degradation

There exist a lot of bacteria in nature that can degrade xenobiotic substances such as phenolic compounds or endocrine disruptors. In a lot of soil samples that were taken from contaminated soil to find organisms that do so, 'sphingomonads were extraordinarily often isolated ([http://www.springerlink.com/content/t717l15u85507706/ Stolz, 2009]).
