What?
In this project a novel small RNA technology for gene silencing in bacteria is developed. The silencing is tunable to a large range of expression levels and can be applied to any gene in most bacteria. For more information go to project overview.
Why?
Gene knockout is a fundamental technique in biology. It is currently a time-consuming process restricted to nonessential genes. For more perspectives go to project vision.
How?
Inspired by the chitobiose system in E. coli we constructed a biological and mathematical model of the small RNA technology. For additional details go to technical stuff.
