High school talk

Onthe 3rd October 2011, 4 members from CUHK iGEM team 2011 held a highschool talk in Leung Shek Chee College in Kwun Tong, lasting for about one hour.

In the talk, they introduced basic background of synthetic biology, iGEM competition, as well as the project idea and ethical issues. Through the talk, we were aspired to arouse their interests in synthetic biology and provide them with spaces for the discussion on the novel way of studying science.

At the end of the talk, feedbacks are collected from students. All of them reflected that they understand more about synthetic biology. Half of them show more acceptance of synthetic biology. Only a small proportion thinks it is safe to put synthetic biology in practice.

In general, they found the presentation interesting and informative.
