Introduction: Our Problem

  • P. aeruginosa is a human pathogenic bacteria that is found in water.
  • Using the iGem parts containing the Lux system, that detects Pseudomonas' quorum sensing factors, we will build a sensor which detects this pathogen. The read-out of for this sensor will be light from chemiluminescence.

Primary Objective:

We will pull the Lux system parts and the chemiluminescence parts and build a device in Agrobacteria because it is nonpathogenic.

Secondary Objective:

We will build the luminescence detector built by Cambridge University in 2010.

Further Considerations

  • We would like to ultimately design a device that can be hand held, and can be operated simply to determine water quality.
