PATW

Present Around the World (PATW) is an annual engineering speech competition held by the Institution of Engineering and Technology. There are three levels of competition, locals, regionals, and worlds. To get to the regional level you must be in the top 2 from the local level, whereas to get to the worlds you must be in best presenter in the regionals. The local level for our area included several provinces in canada, while the regional level included both North and South America.

Two of our team members, Stephen and Emily, competed at the local level. The picture shown above was taken at the end of that round. Stephen is shown in the suit at the back, while Emily is wearing the red shirt. Stephen presented on the synthetic organism Mycobacterium laboratorium, while Emily presented on the biological revolution of standardization, known as the BioBrick. At this competition Emily came in first place and advanced to the regional competition.

One trip to boston for the regionals later and Emily advanced to the world finals in London, England! The judges loved her presentation style and liked the content of her iGEM themed presentation. Stay tuned for updates on how she does in England.
