Chloroform, CHCl3, also known as Trichloromethane. CHCl3 is a colorless, sweet-smelling liquid. Chloroform boils at 61 degrees Celsius. It is more soluble in oil; log(oil/water)=2 and only slightly soluble in cold water. Light inactivates the molecule. CHCl3 is reactive with metals but is non-corrosive in the presence of glass.
