This is a template page. READ THESE INSTRUCTIONS.
You are provided with this team page template with which to start the iGEM season. You may choose to personalize it to fit your team but keep the same "look." Or you may choose to take your team wiki to a different level and design your own wiki. You can find some examples HERE.
You MUST have a team description page, a project abstract, a complete project description, a lab notebook, and a safety page. PLEASE keep all of your pages within your teams namespace.
You can write a background of your team here. Give us a background of your team, the members, etc. Or tell us more about something of your choosing.
Tell us more about your project. Give us background. Use this is the abstract of your project. Be descriptive but concise (1-2 paragraphs)

ARSENIC OL'FACTORY DETECTION DEVICE
Contamination by heavy metals in drinking water is becoming a huge threat to developing countries. Metals such as arsenic, copper, lead, etc. are rising to alarming levels. Our iGEM project is directed at detecting low level concentrations of arsenic in bodies water. What makes our project unique is we will be using scent as our reporter; we have found sent producing genes in the registry for banana and wintergreen. We will first be developing this detection device in E. coli then optimizing them in a non-pathogenic strain of yeast. We hope to develop a fast, efficient way of detecting heavy metals in without any outside equipment. Yeast will also give our detection device the ability to be stored for long periods of time, without the need for any special storing requirements.
