Ana Patricia Campos Anaya Born in León, Guanajuato, México. She is very good at specific writing tasks; she’s always in a very good mood to help everyone with anything. She enjoys tennis; likes speaking French and eating Italian
Professor Prashant Kumar Mishra, PhD candidate born in Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh, India, Cell Physiologist, researcher and teacher. He is a genetic engineering specialist and taught us how to make things happen in the lab (except for the karaoke, we learned that ourselves). His favorite phrase is “Don’t guess! Be sure!” He likes coffee a lot. .
Israel Guerrero Arguero Born in Guadalajara Jalisco, México. He was our multitask guy, helpful in almost any activity. He is an excellent soccer player and a considerate soul. He’s a proud family father and he loves his wife Maribel and his daughter Michelle.
Dr. Sonia Vázquez Flores MVZ MPVM PhD born in Mexico City. Molecular epidemiologist researcher and teacher. She was the one in charge to put everyone to work, helping us a lot with encouragement, research money, materials, equipment and connections. She loves cows, teaching, and learning. Enjoys a good cup of tea and new age music.
Indira Isis Colunga Rivera Born in Celaya, Guanajuato, México. She dealt relentlessly with sponsors and negotiated grants from governmental agencies and private companies but also assisted the lab whenever possible. Never took no as an answer. She dances beautifully, loves her jazz team and pompon squad.
Laura Cristina Amaya Hernandez Born in Tijuana, Baja California, México. She was the master behind the organization of almost everything for our team, she always keeps everything organized, scheduled, backed up, actualized, clean, tidy and full of smileys. She likes dancing and Disney movies.
Rodrigo Machado Riveira Born in San Juan del Rio, Querétaro, México. He was key in the brainstorming and theoretical development. He has an inquisitive mind, always questioning and thorough analysis. He telecommuted with us from Atlanta, where he was collaborating with Emory University and the Winship Cancer Institute during summer.
Rossel Taveras Delgado Born in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. She developed a lot of public relations functions. She also worked as a timer, continuously remembering us to do things on time. With excellent phone and GPS skills, she became our guiding light. She likes going to church and running. A great athlete.
Aldo Andrés Díaz Jiménez Born in Querétaro, Querétaro, México. He was one of the most active actors in the wet-lab during the summer. He likes sports in general but specially to ride his bike around town. He loves to drink tea, read books and stuff related to Pans troglodytes.
Nelson Gregorio Cano Eusebio Born in C´rdenas, Tabasco, México. Sometimes a bit late to meetings but always helpful with good ideas. Nelson likes ballroom dancing, in which he is a true master, specially Tango. He is the coordinator of the Boy Scouts at “Red de jóvenes de Querétaro” (Queretaro’s Youth network). He gave us Awesome dancing classes during the dead hours of lab work.
Mariana Nieto de León Born in Mexico City. She contributed with the initial theoretical research from Spain. Upon her arrival to Querétaro, she actively helped in lab work and supplies. She likes arts and loves playing football.
Jorge Arturo V´zquez Pratz Born in México City, México. Very good at laboratory techniques and he also performed as our team treasurer. Pratz doesn’t like you, or me, or anyone/anything/anywhere. He is our favorite grumpy.
Cintli Carina Morales Alcal´ Born in Querétaro, Querétaro. Competing with Laura, she was always on time to any appointment, organized, committed and sweet. She telecommuted with us half of the summer from Singapore, where she was studying Chinese at the National University of Singapore. She likes Arctic Monkeys a lot.
David Ignacio Maycotte Cervantes Born Querétaro, Querétaro México. He was a key stone in the theoretical research and great skills in the wet lab. He likes to sing, compose music and draw wherever he cans. A born artist, very good biotechnologist, and wonderful friend.
Mónica Aguilar Quevedo Born in the beautiful Veracruz, Veracruz, México. She was our multitask girl, helping in the labwork, keeping inventories and getting founding for us. She’s loves relaxing and sports, especially basketball.
Antonio Villarreal Larrauri Born in Saltillo, Coahuila, México. He was the one who came with the “Let’s go to iGEM” idea, and the pioneer of Synthetic Biology in the campus. Committed with the wet lab work, he works as the president of our student group. He likes to play and listen to rock music, and having a cigarette to relax. .


We are a diverse group of 14 persons and 2 doctors, each of us have developed special functions for the project according to our skills
