Corinne Dorel
(Associate professor at the Institut National des Sciences Appliquées de Lyon),
2011 project coordinator.

My teaching activities in the Microbial Genetics mainly take place within the Biosciences department at INSA Lyon, but also at the Ecole Normale Supérieur de Lyon and at the University Claude Bernard Lyon 1.
My research work is based on the understanding of genetic mecanisms involved in the formation of biofilms and the contamination of materials. Being the Communications officer for the Biosciences department, my participation in iGEM 2011 is part of a strategy to promote and share knowledge in the field of research in genetic engineering and more generally in Biological Sciences.

As a student in biochemistry engineering at INSA, I first heard of Igem in 2007, when Endy Drew, Igem's founder came to INSA to promote this new competition in Europe. After two years thinking of this idea, I finally decided to join Igem Paris team in 2009 to enjoy this competition within an experienced team. Convinced that the department of Biosciences at INSA had the perfect tools to participate in this competition, mixing together an engineering background with strong microbiological and bio-informatics knowledge, I helped the emergence of a new team in 2010 and tried to share my experience of the competition with all the team members. After the success of team iGEM INSA Lyon 2010 (silver medal), I am very happy to be an advisor for team Lyon INSA-ENS in 2011.

Hello everyone! I'm Philippe... After a first participation in iGEM in 2010, my only wish was to be a part (...) of the new "lyonnaise" team! That's why I'm here, helping my friend while doing my intership. I want to enjoy even more than last year, because iGEM is so cooool! After droppy coli and the "chef", here comes Cobalto! see you soon ;)

Mathilde Dum

Hi everyone ! I study Fondamental Biology at the ENS of Lyon, and the idea of an association with the INSA-team was very attractive because the ENS hadn't one, and the INSA had been very nice welcoming us. I think this association and our very different profiles could help us to build the best cell ! Let's spend the three most awful/exciting months in the year !

As a student in the Biochemistry and Biotechnologies department at INSA Lyon, participating in the iGEM 2011 project is a great opportunity to work within a team to go beyond what we are taught in class, in a both fun and creative way. I believe that this can be a very positive experience for the future. Meeting people from all around the world throughout this competition is something that I am really looking forward to.
I enjoy travelling, learning languages, cooking (and eating), and practicing all kinds of sports (but especially volleyball as well as Beach volleyball).
