Arabidopsis: our model soil erosion preventing plant
Arabidopsis will be used as our model plant for plant-bacteria interactions. We will be using wt plants do replicate the results described by Paungfoo-Lonhienne et al. (2010) and demonstrate that we can get plant roots to take up bacteria. In further experiments, we are planning on using DR5::GFP mutants that express GFP in response to auxin uptake. As we will be using a red reporter in our transgenic bacteria, the GFP signal is not going to interfere with sensing bacterial uptake into the roots.
