Team Grinnell
Who we are
Grinnell College
Grinnell College is a small, liberal arts school located in the beautiful and fun small town of Grinnell, IA.
Advisor:
- Lisa Bowers : Lisa recieved her Postdoctoral Fellow 2007-2010 from the University of California - Berkeley, Department of Plant and Microbial Biology and her Ph.D. in 2007 from the University of Wisconsin - Madison, Department of Microbiology. She is currently an assistant professor of Biology at Grinnell College teaching courses in Molecular Biology and Microbiology.
Undergrads:
- Alex Aaring: Alex just finished his sophomore year at Grinnell College as a Biological Chemistry major. He originally hails from Eugene, OR.
- Nora Kostow: Nora is a third year Biology major from New York, NY. She is interested in Genetics and Molecular Biology. She enjoys short bike rides, porches and cheesecake.
- Qimeng Gao: Qimeng will be a third year Biology major this coming fall. He is from Hangzhou, China.
What we did
We each worked on out own aspect of the project by working with a specific gene that would contribute to the overall goal.

We will work as a group to test the expression of the proteins and the affect our engineered C. crescentus has on biofilm.
