The undergraduate portion of the IGEM 2011 team at UC Davis is currently comprised of four students:
Keegan Owsley: Team leader. 4th-year Biomedical Engineering major. 1 year IGEM experience. Code-guy. No musical expertise.
Tim Fenton: 4th-year Cell Biology major, ex-engineer. 2 years IGEM experience. 17 years (!) of piano, plays about a dozen other instruments.
Aaron Heuckroth: 4th-year Microbiology and Classics double-major. The only team-member not to have taken engineering-level math. Plays too much electric guitar. Current king of lab accidents.
Nick Csicsery: 3rd-year Biological Systems Engineering major. "The New Guy." Several years of guitar. Willing to stay past 8:00 PM to finish plating ligations. Way to go, Nick. You're a champ.
These four are "supervised" by:
Mike Starr: Graduate student studying "synthetic biology" / "systems biology." Often signs his name on plates with an actual star. Musical expertise unknown.
Everyone above works in a lab run by:
Marc Facciotti: Primary faculty contact. PhD in Biophysics. Plays the drums.
Ilias Tagkopoulos: PhD in Electrical Engineering. Musical expertise unknown.
