iGEM 2011 Teachers' Workshop information will be provided here.

To submit a proposal to host a workshop, see the workshop proposal page.

Workshop Locations

The Europe Teachers' Workshop will be hosted by the UPO-Sevilla group and held on Friday, May 27, in Carmona, Spain (just outside Sevilla). More details will be provided on the Europe Teachers' Workshop page as they become available.

Other Locations

For iGEM 2011 iGEM HQ received one official proposal to hold a Teachers' Workshop (see above). HQ will hold the workshop there given the interest in hosting by the organizing group. All instructors from the Europe region teams are invited to attend the workshop in Spain. Instructors from other regions interested in attending the Europe workshop should contact iGEM HQ.

To provide instruction to those not attending a Teachers' Workshop, iGEM HQ will be developing a series of short, instructional videos. They will be posted on the iGEM Videos page as they become available. Video topics will include most topics covered in the workshop agenda and more. Of course, online videos cannot replicate the important community-building component of the workshops, but we do hope they will address the instructional component.

Workshop Registration

Registration information for each workshop will be outlined on the individual workshop pages.

If you need an official invitation letter, contact HQ and we will help you as much as possible. You must contact us early so that we can accommodate your request.

Workshop Resources

Teachers' Workshop FAQs:

  1. Do instructors have to attend?
    • We highly encourage all instructors, from both new and veteran teams, to attend the workshops. For iGEM 2011 we are changing the format so that instructors have a few workshop options in their region. According to the iGEM competition requirements, each team MUST send at least one instructor.
