This is a template page. READ THESE INSTRUCTIONS.
You are provided with this team page template with which to start the iGEM season. You may choose to personalize it to fit your team but keep the same "look." Or you may choose to take your team wiki to a different level and design your own wiki. You can find some examples HERE.
You MUST have a team description page, a project abstract, a complete project description, a lab notebook, and a safety page. PLEASE keep all of your pages within your teams namespace.

You can write a background of your team here. Give us a background of your team, the members, etc. Or tell us more about something of your choosing.

Overall project

Your abstract The mine gas is a term given to the methane gas and other gases produced or emitted in association with coal mining activities. 5%-15% methane level is risky amount that makes gas mixture explosive enough to explode by just one spark. So, firedamp explosions is frequently seen cases all mines over the world. Every year, 50 miner lose their lives in Turkey. Our project as being a team in IGEM (International Genetically Engineering Machines) to find two solutions for reducing the risk of firedamp explosions. Firstly, 1% methane level in gas mixture is legally accepted as alarming level that is necessary to all miner to leave the mine. There are three different methods to estimate methane concentration. Our aim is to find an another method which is more practical, sensitive, and cheaper than others. It includes bacteria dependent biosensor. Secondly, recent mine mechanisms release produced methane into air. Methane gas has 24 times more effect than CO2on global warming. Since, it is important to convert methane gas into other derives to reduce global warming. Our second aim is to conduct a project, that, methane can be converted into methanol which may be used in biofuel production.
