The Team

We are a french team from Grenoble. A well known, city for skiing and nanotechnology. We are forming a joint team between biology students from Université Joseph Fourier and engineer students from Grenoble INP Phelma (Grenoble Institute of technology). The team will be composed of 11 students that will work in 6 different laboratories (lab directors in parentheses):
  • 2 microbiology laboratories (Geiselmann, Attree)
  • 1 laboratory of biotechnology (Bruckert)
  • 3 biophysics laboratories (Peyrade, Calemczuk,)
  • 1 bioinformatics laboratory (de Jong).
Each laboratory provides the necessary laboratory space for the students. The internship agreements between the students and the laboratories (and institutions) have been signed. The laboratories provide the necessary infrastructure for microbiology experiments and potential biotechnological applications that may be part of the project. The engineering laboratories are well equipped for microscopy and single-cell measurements that may be used to assess the functioning of the strains. The team is composed of 10 students. Half of them are biologists from the biology department of the university of Grenoble. The other half are engineering students from the Grenoble Institute of Technology, having taken some more specialized courses in biotechnology. The instructors are also from these two fields. In addition, one (may be two) students will work in the bioinformatics laboratory of Hidde de Jong. All three institutions (university, engineering school, and national informatics institute) have ample meeting space for regular discussions between the students working in physically different laboratories. }

Our Project

We will work on a way to make the previous iGEM systems work together. We aim to build a complex logical system by assembling the basics component (already working logical gates) provided by other teams' work. We will have to work on compatibility. And to do so, we need to design output signals that can be used as input signals. We also need to prevent the components to interfere with each other. }
