Autoclave Tour

The Autoclave Room
Barbara Landamore, demonstrating glassware ready for autoclaving

Glasses for autoclaving should be:

  • Not overfilled: the solution will boil during autoclaving
  • Lids should be safely on, but loose - air must be able to escape
  • Labelled iGEM
  • Left on the table on the right (see picture)
  • Collected from the autoclaving room

Other equipment, e.g. pipette tips, should be bagged, labelled and placed in the yellow box to the right (see picture)

Items which are unsuitable for autoclaving (e.g. sharps) will not be autoclaved, but will be returned.
