INSA
INSA : Institut National des Sciences Appliquées. C'est un réseau de 5 écoles d'ingénieur post-baccalauréat publiques. Elles sont localisées dans les villes de Lyon, Rennes, Toulouse, Rouen et Strasbourg.
Aujourd'hui, il y a environ 52 000 ingénieurs formés par l'INSA. Les spécialisations proposées sont très variées : autour de la Chimie, de la mécanique, du génie civil, de l'électrique et des matériaux.
L'école d'ingénieur située à Lyon est la plus ancienne des INSA. Sa construction a été rapide et les cours ont commencé à la fin de l'année 1957. Puis, les batiments ont été construit graduelement pour les salles de classes, les logements et les laboratoires de recherche. Aujourd'hui, l'INSA de Lyon propose 12 spécialisations différentes après 2 années de classes préparatoires intégrées.
La vie étudiante est une partie importante de l'école après les cours. Il y a plus d'une centaine d'associations étudiantes. Les étudiants organisent de nombreux évènements comme le Raid, les 24 heures de l'INSA,... Then, people can acquire scientific skills but also humans skills in order to become a complete engineer.
Students with a high level in sports can enjoy rearranged timetables so they can go on with it. Next to the scientific education, other students choose to follow music, art, danse or theatre classes. The international opening is not neglected either: there are four international sections during the two first years of preparation. Those special sections welcome students from all around the world :
- Amerinsa (for the latino american area),
- Asinsa (for the asian area),
- Eurinsa (for the european area)
- SCAN (most of classes are taught in english).
There is about 30% of international students.
Our speciality: Biosciences, our departement is divided in two sections Biochemistry and Biotechnologies engineering, and Bioinformatics and Modelisation engineering. At the end of the five years in our school, we graduate with a master of engineering in Biosciences.
It is one of the youngest department of the school and the smallest, less than 200 students. It has been created at the request of Charles Mérieux then president of the Biomerieux company, an important biochemical industry originally from Lyon.
